Luigi Imperato is a dancer, choreographer and music composer based in Osnabrück, Germany. His work focuses on the dialogue between movement and sound, particularly on the pursuit of realism and physical efficiency. These are supported by ambient electronic music compositions that he creates mainly using field recordings. His choreographic works “Hauptberg” and “Look from afar” premiered in Italy and Germany.
ABOUT ME
I am focused on my performative side as well as on the development of my own choreographic language. I see myself in places where artists can work together to create opportunities for the growth of the local and international community.
I launched Urbino Dance Weekend and Fossombrone Forum Dance, two festivals in Italy where international dancers and choreographers could exchange their knowledge with the local students. The Ducal Palace in Urbino and the Church of San Filippo in Fossombrone have become the venues for these events, being aware of how creations in specific sites have the unique power to influence and contribute to the exchange amongst artists, while reshaping completely the history and meaning of the chosen location.
